Our solution combines technical excellence with practical functionality, to meet the needs of site managers as well as possible. BauAssist eases construction documentation through automated features, such as AI-assisted detection of errors and the sending of reminders to project participants. Site managers can, for example, be notified automatically when corrections are needed on site, or reminded to complete particular tasks.

BauAssist also includes a role-based permission system that manages access to features and data efficiently. An automatic weather-data API delivers contextual information directly into the application, while on-site location tracking makes it possible to document precisely where a site-diary entry was made. Together these features save considerable time and increase the accuracy and reliability of construction documentation.

Construction documentation is an essential part of every building project: it records progress, but it also serves as legal and contractual evidence. Incomplete or faulty documentation can lead to delays, higher costs and even legal disputes. BauAssist addresses these challenges by putting a structured, automated solution in the hands of site managers. With Java and Spring Boot as the technical foundation, a robust backend infrastructure is guaranteed, running smoothly and dependably. The React frontend provides an intuitive interface, shaped around the needs of site and project managers.

The development of BauAssist rests on a thoroughly modern technical architecture that provides both stability and flexibility. The backend was built with Java and Spring Boot, giving us a proven and powerful basis for scalability and security. The role and permission system was implemented with Spring Security, to ensure that all access rights can be managed granularly and safely.

The frontend was built with React, which allows a fast and responsive interface. Redux was added for efficient state management, to ensure seamless interaction between user and application. For the AI features we used natural language processing (NLP) and machine-learning algorithms tuned specifically to the needs of construction documentation. That makes it possible, for instance, to detect errors and notify people about them automatically, and to send proactive reminders about tasks.

One particular feature is the integration of geolocation data: using GPS and indoor positioning, BauAssist can locate the site manager precisely and show where on site the diary entries were made. A weather-data API was also integrated, delivering real-time weather information and so providing valuable contextual data for the documentation.

The whole application was tested intensively, including unit tests with JUnit and end-to-end tests with Cypress, to guarantee the highest quality standards. Our agile way of working and the use of DevOps tools such as Jenkins and Docker enabled fast, smooth delivery of the software. Through this technical and organisational approach, BauAssist is a future-proof and powerful answer to the challenges of construction documentation.
